In the first year of the Xianfeng reign (1851), the spark ignited at Jintian. The 20-year-old Shi Dakai led his forces into the anti-Qing torrent, embarking on a lifelong military journey. You will witness his glory and hardships: the breakout at Xiangzhou Zhongping Ma'an Mountain, an early display of brilliance by defeating a larger force; the great victory at Changsha Shuiluzhou, crossing the Xiang River to break the Qing encirclement and open a path for the Taiping Army; the Western Expedition, taking command in a crisis, establishing shipyards and training a navy at Anqing, defeating the Xiang Army twice at Jiujiang and Hukou, crippling Zeng Guofan's main force, recapturing Wuchang, and sweeping across over fifty counties in Jiangxi, forging the myth of "never suffering a single defeat"; the Tianjing Incident, witnessing brethren turn on each other and the slaughter of his family, forced to make agonizing choices between loyalty and survival; after his resentful departure, campaigning through Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Hunan, Guangxi, and Sichuan, holding fast to his convictions while fighting alone, ultimately facing the desperate situation at the Dadu River and the tragic choice of "sacrificing himself to save his army."
