In the distant future, humanity has expanded across the galaxy, and the Dyson Sphere—capable of harnessing the power of an entire star—has become a reality.
You are the commander of the Oort Security Force, humanity's elite combat unit. Alongside your six squad members, you are dispatched on a mission to subdue AMATERASU, the Stellar Management System responsible for overseeing the Solar System and its Dyson Sphere, after it suddenly turns its weapons against humanity.
From a Earth engulfed in war—where just a handful of people fought their way to the base in Mercury’s orbit where AMATERASU was operational—and given that AMATERASU was capable of using a Dyson Sphere to fire “Amaterasu particles”—ultra-high-energy cosmic rays that could potentially destroy the solar system—humanity’s chances of victory were a mere 1 percent, a truly desperate situation...
●Yatanokagami
Upon activation, this ability instantly converts all enemy bullets on the screen into score chips and activates the Yatanokagami Mode.
In Yatanokagami Mode, when you defeat an enemy,
you can convert the bullets that enemy was firing into score chips.
This mode remains active indefinitely unless you choose to deactivate it.
●Cooling
A cooldown occurs when you manually deactivate the Yatanokagami Mode.
As the red gauge decreases, it fills the Solar Shell (Bomb) gauge displayed in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Once this gauge is full, you will obtain a Solar Shell (bomb).
This is a crucial action—the only way to obtain a so-called “bomb”—
and it also serves as a countermeasure against the “Amaterasu Interference” described later.
●Amaterasu Interference
While in Yatano Kagami Mode, you are continuously subjected to interference from AMATERASU.
The level of this interference is represented by the Yasakanino Magatama Gauge located beside the counter.
This functions as the game's Rank system. The gauge gradually rises from Blue (Safe) → Green → Yellow → Red. As the Rank increases, enemies begin releasing Revenge Bullets whenever their bullets are converted, making the battlefield increasingly dangerous.
Fortunately, this interference can be reduced through the Cooling mechanic described earlier. Deciding how long to remain in Yata no Kagami Mode, when to activate Cooling, and how to balance both Bomb Gauge recovery and Rank reduction becomes a crucial part of your strategy.
Mastering this cycle is one of the game's most important core mechanics.
