À propos de Boardfall

Boardfall - à propos du jeu

It's chess, but:

  • You can move all your pieces once per turn

  • You can stack attacks on the same piece to achieve combos

  • You can purchase new pieces using gold earned from captures

  • You can drop reinforcements in anywhere on the board

  • The board is ruined, so placement is very important

  • You only lose the game if you have no pieces on the board

  • In addition to the classic pieces, there are some new pieces to try

Piece packs

It's expensive to buy pieces individually, so the best value is to purchase pieces is piece packs. You'll know what pieces roughly to expect from each pack, but they'll often contain other pieces too.

Reimagined pieces

There have been some changes made to accommodate the new meta.

  • Pawns can now move in any adjacent direction, and can attack from any diagonal. Instead of needing to reach the edge of the board to be promoted, they must achieve a total number of captures. The more powerful the promotion, the more captures are needed.

  • The king is no longer a burden. He still can only move 1 tile at a time, but now any pieces close to him receive immunity from being taken. You can only have one king in play, but losing him does not end the game. The game only ends if you have no pieces on the board.

New pieces

While your favourite pieces are included, some new pieces have been added to keep things fresh:

  • Jesters cannot attack, but any pieces that can take him must do so. He is a great distraction to allow your more valuable pieces to escape to safety. The poetic opposite of 'check'.

  • When the necromancer captures an enemy piece, the last piece that it took from you will be restored to your inventory. Great for reviving valuable pieces, or even a highly ranked pawn that you never got to promote.

  • Witches cannot capture pieces. Instead, they cast spells that convert enemy pieces into cursed pawns, rendering them unpromotable.

  • Juggernauts are just much heavier rooks. Once they starts moving, they can't stop until they reach the edge of the board. Any piece in their path will be obliterated, including your own.

  • Magnets attract any piece towards them. Great for pulling enemy pieces into a trap, helping your own pieces scale the gaps in the board, or even swapping bishops to a different tile.

  • Martyrs don't capture enemy pieces. Instead, they sacrifice themselves and convert that enemy piece to your team. They can also be used to undo a witches magic and restore a cursed pawn to its original piece.

  • Archers can fire over other pieces in a 5x5 ring, but attacking is the only way they can move.
