GeoPinQuest is a 3D-globe geography game. Spin the Earth, pin countries, cities, and flags across 20 mode variants, and watch every miss turn into a lesson - a red dashed arc draws itself between your pick and the answer, so you always see how close you came.
Five game types, 20 modes
Country - tap the country that matches the name on the target card.
City - rotate and zoom the globe so a red bullseye sits over the target city, then pin it.
Flag - the target is a flag emoji, nothing else. Tap the country whose flag it is.
Higher / Lower Country - two countries per round; guess whether the second has a higher or lower population than the first. That one becomes the first of the next round, so every guess chains into the next.
Higher / Lower City - same population duel, played with cities.
Every game type runs in Classic (10 rounds), Endless (no round cap), Timed (60s / 30s / 10s / 5s per round), and Endless Timed variants - 20 modes in all. Every mode lets you filter the target pool by continent, or by individual country for the City modes, so you can drill any region you want to learn.
Distance-based scoring you can see
Country and Flag rounds score by centroid-to-centroid great-circle distance. Guess Germany when the answer is France (764 km apart) and you still score 925 out of 1,000 - plus a thick red dashed arc drawn on the globe between your pick and the correct country. The result card grades every miss: So close! under 200 km, Not bad. under 1,500 km, Way off. beyond that.
City mode uses the same idea, scaled up: a 10-km bullseye earns the full 10,000 points, and you lose points linearly as your pin drifts. All the math is real great-circle distance on the sphere - no planar approximations even at the poles or the antimeridian.
251 real countries, half a million real places
The globe uses a real GeoJSON country dataset - 251 countries with proper borders, centroids, and continent groupings - and a per-country locality dump for City mode: roughly half a million towns, villages, and hamlets that actually exist on Earth. Everything ships in the game; no external downloads at first launch.
103 achievements and a per-mode scoreboard
Bronze / Silver / Gold / Diamond score tiers for every mode, endless-streak trophies, a Near Misses category that celebrates the "so close" moments, career-total 100,000 and 1,000,000-point milestones, and a lifetime collection challenge that tracks every country you've ever correctly identified across every game you've played (25% / 50% / 75% / 100% of all 251). Runs are ranked per-mode with timestamps in a six-tab scoreboard.
Built for motion
Momentum-based globe controls: drag to yaw and pitch, right-drag to roll, mouse-wheel or pinch to zoom, and a compass button to snap north back to the top.
