A tower defense game where the dinosaurs evolve. The more you fight them, the harder they hit back, adapting against what you throw at them to keep you on your toes. Spread your damage sources, find combos, or watch how the horde over-runs and kills all your hopes of containment.
The research experiment failed, the lab's breeding tanks kept going even as the humans left, the dinosaurs escaped into the wild. Out of the lab, the dinosaurs started merging with the machinery, kept breeding outside of their tanks at an alarming rate.
The only hope left is the Mesozoic Protocol.
An emergency protocol, designed to keep the breach in check and contained until the scientists can figure out a way to undo what they have done. You are in charge of it.
Build seven tower types: Pulse, Chain, Cryo, Mortar, Flame, Hive, and Barracks. Your armed HQ is an eighth defense. Dinosaurs resist some damage types. From outpost 12, they evolve against the towers you use most. Mix your defenses to keep them contained.
Mesozoic Protocol has 30 hand-designed outposts, meandering through different biomes, everywhere you are trying to stop the dinosaur herd from running over the rest of humanity, while the scientists are frantically trying to undo the mistakes of their research and what they have wrought onto the world. You are just buying time for them in a containment fight against something the world hasn't yet seen and is not really prepared to fight. Will you keep humanity from perishing?
4 difficulty tiers from Easy (is this a tutorial or what?) to Extinction (you will think the game is unfair, and wonder why you chose this suffering).
There are additional Breach and Containment Modifiers per level, so you can replay your favorite levels with an extra challenge. Breach bans some of your favorite towers and rewrites the wave list: more dinosaurs, and heavier ones, sooner.
Containment leaves you with only one life, locked loadout, no selling of towers. Lock in your strategy and survive the onslaught of dinosaurs in one final test of your skills. Up to 5 stars per level, all earnable.
You think you can beat the game on Extinction difficulty in Containment mode? Think again!
There's also an Endless mode that escalates forever so that you can keep honing your strategy until eventually the dinosaurs become too strong and overwhelm you regardless of your efforts.
There are also different boss waves, that will push you and your strategy to the limit. Some bosses on Extinction feel barely survivable. They are. Winning anyway is the point.
One mech pilot is available from the start. Collect bolts to add three more pilots to your roster. Each has four abilities, and you can improve their skills as they gain experience. Different mechs fit different strategies. They complement your tower setup and become part of the bigger plan.
A persistent meta tree helps you improve your towers as you progress. Spend stars from completed levels on tower and HQ upgrades. Reassign those upgrades as your strategy changes.
There are easter eggs scattered across the outposts. Look around and see if you can find them all.
Developed solo. Built because I wanted to play a tower defense game where the enemy actually pushes back and adapts to what you do.
