Combat rhythms vary by discipline. Swift swords accumulate momentum across turns for a chosen burst release, while heavy swords charge for decisive single strikes. The Sword-Trial Terrace features an elder who eventually addresses the player by their Daoist name.
Between runs, the Mind Sea archives every technique, artifact, elixir, and the Moon Mirror encountered. Unseen items remain marked as unknown until discovered through play. Torn scrolls gradually reveal the ancient truth behind the Heavens' strike. Tribulation adds escalating challenge layers: surviving one instance triggers a heavier version with stronger enemies and richer rewards. Within each act, players choose routes through normal, elite, and gated trials, with chance encounters that reveal their full nature only after the first visit.
Progression and Meta Systems
Defeat never resets progress to zero. Each fall contributes another fragment of the thousand-year-old truth while the master in the sect retains memory of the player's Daoist name. Six discipline axes allow every run to produce a distinct Dao.
